Beckfield News – 12th July
A message from Mrs. Watkiss
A warm welcome to our weekly news.
It’s been a great week in school!
We had visits from our Vice Chair of Governors on Monday and our Chair of Governors on Friday. It’s great to be able to invite our governors back into school and we look forward to seeing them at our end-of-year events.
We started the week with two trips! Our Reception and Key Stage 1 children visited Scarborough and our Year 5 children went to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for the day. All the children had an excellent time and were very tired when they returned!
On Wednesday, most of our children got to enjoy their sports day, with parents watching, which was a real treat. The children worked amazingly well in their teams and the top three teams were given special badges in our assemblies on Friday.
On Thursday, we invited a few of our parents in to talk to the children about their jobs. The children found this really exciting and got to ask lots of questions! A huge thank you to all the parents who volunteered for this. It wouldn’t have been a success without you and we really appreciate it.
We are really looking forward to the last two weeks of the school year. We want it to be a really enjoyable and memorable time for the children and there are lots of people working hard in school to make sure this happens.
I will catch up with you again next week for another exciting round-up!
For our final fortnight, we will be focusing our attention on ‘Staying Positive’.
As we move towards the end of term, we need to be mindful that we are all feeling tired and to look out for each other if we’re not feeling our best. We are asking the children to keep each other staying positive and to remember all the things they have done well this year, if they find themselves struggling.
We had a fantastic time during our Sports Day on Wednesday! The children were put into teams, with representation from across their Key Stage. They worked hard together to get the highest scores or the furthest distance and there were lots of smiles all round!
Thank you to Mr Wood for putting this together.
This year, we hosted our first Careers Afternoon. We had some parents in to tell us all about their jobs. The children learned all about the different skills and qualifications they would need to do different things when they’re older.
Next year, we want to host more of these types of things so if this is something you’d like to get involved in as a parent ambassador, then please get in touch.
Celebrations and awards
Take a look at all our wonderful winners from this week! We have your names displayed with pride in the entrance to our school, so that all our visitors can see.
This week’s winners
Well done to you all! You have given all your efforts to aim for excellence!
The winner of this week’s Headteacher award is…Manahil Khalil
Manahil has shown such determination since she started with us at Beckfield. She has gone from strength to strength with her learning and her friendships and I am so proud every time I see her. Well done, Manahil!
This week our Year 5 class has the highest attendance AGAIN, AGAIN, AGAIN!
Well done to you all – a brilliant achievement, continued! Our Year 1 class was not far behind this week!
The class with the most attendance stars at the end of the Summer term will have a special afternoon to celebrate their success.
We will also do another parent draw at the end of the term, for those children who have been in school 100% of the time.
Thanks for all your support,
