Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted to be the Head of Academy at Co-op Academy Beckfield.

It brings me so much pride every day to work with such incredible pupils, staff and families in our community.

At Beckfield, we are passionate about giving children opportunities to Aspire, Aim and Achieve. We do this through a well thought-out curriculum, quality teaching and a wide range of activities designed to develop confident and creative citizens for the future.

Leaders and staff at Beckfield are passionate about the teaching of early reading and we believe that every child can achieve success. We know just how important reading is for later life, not just because it will help with searching the internet, filling out job applications and accessing help, but because it builds self-esteem, confidence and aspiration. We are very proud that 90% of our children pass their phonics reading test.

We also want children to leave Beckfield with a love of reading. We want Beckfield readers to read for pleasure; just because it brings them joy, excitement and adventure. Our newly renovated library provides a space to do this and we’re extremely proud of it.

Our Careers programme is an important part of our curriculum and we use the Universal Skills Builder Framework to give children, staff and parents focal points in their personal development journeys. We want to expose children to the opportunities that the world has to offer them and challenge their beliefs about what they think they can achieve and aspire to be.

We are a staff of caring, committed and ambitious people from lots of different backgrounds, who want to inspire and prepare our pupils for secondary education and for life. Everything we do is underpinned by our Co-op Ways of Being: Do What Matters Most; Show You Care, Be Yourself, Always and Succeed Together.

It would be my pleasure to welcome you to Beckfield soon.
