Beckfield News – 1 October

Welcome from Miss Bullock – Interim Head of School

Dear families and friends of Co-op Academy Beckfield

I am delighted to introduce myself, Miss Ellen Bullock, as the interim Head of School at Co-op Academy Beckfield. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with families and a committed team of staff at such a friendly and inspiring school. Beckfield is bursting with well-mannered, happy and hardworking children and I am very much looking forward to the success we will achieve together.

I am looking forward to meeting you all. In the meantime, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a mum blessed with a son I seek the absolute best for. Throughout my career in education, I have always aimed to provide the excellence that I would expect for him. My expectations have always been high and I believe that all of our children deserve nothing less than the absolute best education and childhood experiences we can provide.

I have worked as a Headteacher leading in a similar school in Rochdale, where I was also the Deputy Headteacher before that. Prior to my leadership roles there, I worked as a teacher, senior leader and then Deputy Headteacher at another primary school in Rochdale for 9 years. Before qualifying as a teacher, I worked as a teaching assistant and one to one learning support assistant, enabling children with special educational needs and disabilities in Rochdale schools to succeed. My experience spans all year groups from nursery to year 6 where I have enjoyed empowering children of all ages to succeed in all they do. I believe every child can and will achieve their absolute best with the right environment and support.

I bring with me to Beckfield a promise to put the needs of the child at the heart of everything we do, securing the brightest futures for each and every one. I will work tirelessly to ensure every child feels safe and happy at school and to ensure we are all proud to be members of the Co-op Academy Beckfield community. I will build on the strengths of the school and continue to develop and improve all aspects of the Beckfield curriculum and provision while I am here, ensuring we continue, always, to be inclusive and supportive of everyone. I will lead, guide, inspire and support all children, families and staff at Beckfield on our journey to being the best school we can possibly be.

I look forward to working together with you all. Do please come and introduce yourselves as I make myself available to meet you over the coming weeks. Together with your support, I believe we can build strong foundations to enable all of the children at Co-op Academy Beckfield to achieve the highest standards in all that they do.

Kindest regards, Miss Ellen Bullock

Nut Free School

A weekly reminder that we remain a nut free school.  Thank you for supporting this to keep all our children safe.

We need you to check your child’s data with us!

We need you to check the data we hold about your child.  Next week, teachers will be opening their classroom doors from 8.30am  – 8.45am and from 3.15pm to 3.30pm for you to visit your child’s classroom to check, and update their data sheet.  We also need you to update permissions for a number of activities in school and make sure we have 2 contact numbers. It is really important that we have correct and up to date information.

Water Bottles and Juice

Children must only bring water in the bottles for their class drink. Children can bring their own water bottle in so it can be taken home and cleaned ready for the next day. Juice can be brought in for lunch time. Milk and water are available for children having school lunches.  We encourage a healthy diet as children cannot clean their teeth during the day and limiting sugary foods and drinks will help look after their teeth.

Climbing Wall and Frame

We cannot let the children use the climbing wall at the moment as it is waiting to have its annual inspection.  Once this is done, the tape will be removed.  We are waiting to have the climbing frame removed as it is going to cost too much to repair.  This will be completed during the October half term.

Gate opening times

We have been asked by some parents and carers if we can open the gates earlier.  We have been trialling opening them at 8.35am from Monday 27th September.  We will have to have a member of staff on duty at this time.

Make sure to supervise your children and help us keep everyone safe.

Uniform

Thank you for helping us get everyone into uniform – they look really smart! Our uniform shows we’re part of a really special community, if you’re not sure what is our uniform, check that out here.

To keep everyone safe, children cannot wear large earrings and other jewellery. Please ensure your child doesn’t wear these items.

Stud earrings are allowed, but other types of earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets cannot be worn.
