Beckfield News – 20 May

A message from Team Beckfield

Welcome to our weekly newsletter!

We have had a very busy week this week and we would like to say a big thank you to all the pupils who have shown their best self this week and done what matters most.

As you know, we had visitors from Ofsted inspecting our school on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the lead inspector was unwell on Wednesday and Day 2 of the inspection was postponed until further notice. Thank you to all the parents who have filled out the Ofsted survey and recognised all the hard work being done to improve our school and make it a great place for learning.

A huge well done to Year 2 who have been completing their SATs. You have coped so well with the changes in routine and we can see how much hard work you have put in.

Our children have been involved in some exciting sporting events this week which has been wonderful to hear about and experience with the children. The children represented the school incredibly well and showed their best selves. We have truly missed taking the children to these events and seeing them have fun and succeed.

Team Beckfield.

Exciting News!

We have some very exciting news to announce! We have secured a funding bid for a new EYFS playground. The team (especially Miss Brodigan) are over the moon with the news and we can’t wait for our children to have an amazing area to learn and develop their knowledge and skills. As you are aware, Early Years children spend a lot of time outside, we can not wait to offer them a space to explore and most importantly, have fun!

Here is a sneak peek of what is to come!

Sports achievements

This week we took two year 5/6 football teams to take part in a local competition against other schools.

All the children were superb ambassadors for Beckfield and we are really proud of the way they worked together and encouraged each other.

Our younger team gave a brilliant account of themselves and finished mid-table in their group. Our older team was also fantastic and went on to win their group! Well done Team Beckfield!

Celebrations and awards

Take a look at all our wonderful winners from this week! We have your names displayed with pride in the entrance to our school, so that all our visitors can see.

This week’s winners

Well done to you all! You have given all your efforts to aim for excellence.

Headteacher award

The winner of this week’s Headteacher award is…Ivy-Rose Hill in Reception.

Ivy-Rose sets a shining example to the other children at all times. She is polite, works hard and always does the right things. She is a pleasure to have in our school.

Attendance winners

Our target for attendance is 96%. Every week, this is calculated for each class, based on the number of children who arrive on time each day to school.

Our Year 6 class has achieved this target this week! Well done to you all.

The class with the most attendance stars at the end of the Summer term will have a special afternoon to celebrate their success.

We will also do another parent draw at the end of the term, for those children who have been in school 100% of the time.
