Beckfield News – 17 September
Nut Free School
I need to start the newsletter with some very important information again. We are a Nut Free School. This means that we cannot allow anyone to bring any foods into school which have nuts in them. This will include food such as Nutella (and some other chocolate spreads).
Allergic reactions to nuts can be severe so we all need to be extremely careful. Please get in touch if you’re not sure or you have questions.
We have had a number of requests from parents about chocolate spread at lunchtime. I visited Asda this morning on the way to work and I could only find 2 chocolate spreads that did not contain nuts. These were Cadbury’s chocolate spread which said it may have traces of nuts and Asda’s ‘Seriously Spreadable Milk Chocolate flavoured spread. We must ask you to check the labels and look at the ingredients. If it says nuts in bold, they must not be included in packed lunches or snacks.
We will be consulting parents and carers on our ‘Packed Lunch’ policy during the autumn term.
Have you signed up for your ParentPay account? You’ll need it to pay for school dinners.
Only 33% of parents have signed up, so please speak to colleagues in our office if you need help. We can’t accept cash for school dinners as the payment goes direct to Bradford Council.

Please provide your child with a small healthy snack for playtime. We also do not have the facilities and staffing to provide toast for all children. Children in the breakfast club have the option of toast.

Parking outside school
We have continued with the cones which block off the cul-de-sac part of Tyersal Walk to keep the children safe. Mr Senior will be manning this each morning and after school. Please can you also be mindful of local residents when you are parking your cars. A few residents are experiencing their drives being blocked and this can be very frustrating for them. Also, could you please try not to park on the pavements as it restricts access for wheelchair users and people with prams. Walking is the best option if you are able and it will also keep you and your children healthy.
No Dogs on the school site
Please can we remind you all that we do not permit anyone to bring a dog onto the school site.
