Beckfield News – 15th July
A message from Mrs Watkiss
We’ve had another brilliant and busy week in school! The children got to try out their new classes on Tuesday during our Transition Day. It was such a joy to see how excited they all were and how much they enjoyed working with their new teacher.
On Wednesday, we sent our Year 5 and 6 children off on the coach to their residential at Cote Ghyll Mill in Osmotherley. There were lots of smiles but lots of nerves too. However, they dealt with it with such resilience and maturity. We hope they’ve had the best time! I’m sure there will be lots of pictures to share next week.
Next week is our final week of the whole academic year. I can’t quite believe how fast it has gone! We’ve been on quite a journey over the past year and we’ve faced lots of challenges, as individuals and together. Thank you to you all for your support and patience, and working with us through it all.
We look forward to September as a new beginning and can’t wait to take Beckfield into its next chapter.
For our final week, we will all continue to focus our attention on ‘Staying Positive’. The last week of the year is always fun, but can be a challenge in some ways, as we say goodbye to some parts of school life and we start to think ahead. We will support each other to keep our spirits up next week.
Our Nursery children enjoyed their first Sports Day on Wednesday! They were an absolute delight to watch as they worked together in teams to complete relay races and egg and spoons and hurdles.
Thank you to all the parents who came to watch and cheer them on.
Next week, we will host our first Beckfest event! This is a new version of our Summer Fair, which includes a concert to start. We invite parents in at 1pm to watch children perform the songs they’ve been learning, before heading outside to enjoy the fair from 2pm onwards.
Every child in school will be involved and we can’t wait to watch them show off their talents.
The Summer Fair will be held outside and children can be collected from 2pm, to be with parents as they walk around and enjoy the activities. Any children still with us until 3.15pm will go round the fair with their teacher, so they won’t miss out.
There won’t be any after-school care that day.
We look forward to seeing you there!
On Friday afternoon, children will be sent home with a Transition Activity booklet, which includes a parent guide. The idea of these booklets is to give parents and children an idea of what learning will take place next academic year.
The booklets will be something you can work through during the holidays to get the children feeling excited and prepared for their new school year.
There are QR links on the front cover too, to additional resources you can access as parents.
We hope you find these helpful.

The winner of this week’s Headteacher award is…John-Paul Moulden

Guess who has won our attendance award AGAIN this week?! That’s right – our Year 5 class!
Well done to you all – a brilliant achievement, continued! Our Year 6 class was not far behind this week!
The class with the most attendance stars at the end of the Summer term will have a special afternoon to celebrate their success.
We will also do another parent draw at the end of the term, for those children who have been in school 100% of the time.
