Exciting new swimming pool opens at Co-op Academy Beckfield
This term, we’ve brought swimming lessons straight to school with a unique addition—a pop-up swimming pool!
Thanks to our partnership with Kanga Sports, we’ve been able to introduce the Swim:Ed programme, a curriculum-aligned initiative that aims to ensure children learn essential swimming skills and water safety.
Installed during the October half-term, the pool is housed in a large, heated marquee that provides a warm, welcoming environment - just like a local leisure centre.
The programme includes a qualified swim teacher and lifeguard, both of whom conduct regular checks to maintain the pool’s temperature and safety standards.
Headteacher, Caroline Watkiss, said: “Starting on November 4, pupils from Years 3 to 6 have enjoyed daily lessons designed to help them achieve their 25m swimming badge, with lessons continuing until the Christmas holidays.
“We’ve also introduced a special after-school club for Year 2 students, which allows them to build foundational swimming skills ahead of their upcoming lessons.
“We’re so proud to be able to give our children such an incredible opportunity right here at school. The progress they’re making is impressive, and the smiles say it all!”
